Assignment Takeaway

ATA 4:

There are several different ways to show love, care, affection, as well as receiving it. The fourth assignment was unique it was almost as though I had a psychic palm reader telling me about myself. The areas I expect more of were surprisingly accurate along with the areas I could care less about. I am a more affectionate person and love attention when it comes to my significant other. Things like the amount of money a person brings home or their future occupation never factored into determining a relationship. There have been many self-conscious thoughts when getting into a relationship but things like reassurance are my style of love. Communication is another style that is very important and big to me, I dislike distant conversations. For example, I apologized with communication and thoughtful and meaningful gifts to my husband when I were in the wrong. This assignment was absolutely great.

ATA 3:

Assignment 3 was very broad and raised my eyebrow a tad bit. I say this because of the racist remarks Michael Richard stated on television in front of a live audience. To know that a person can have built up animosity towards a race or religion unknowingly is dangerous. At any given moment I could be somewhere and be verbally or physically assaulted for being African American. Such as the image I attached is an example of students being prejudiced and discriminating against a student. The other students’ faces are angrily facing the female student wearing a hijab, who is clearly Arabian and the other students are not. This is a clear example of discrimination towards the girl because of her race and religion.

ATA 2:

Reflecting on the collective images of myself had me come to realize self-worth as well as personal growth. Throughout the images I saw of myself, I notice how much of a caring, selfless, and family-oriented person I am. Below is a collage of myself from 2018 vs. 2022 (current day). As I observed both photos I saw how much I grew mentally and physically, which is something many outsiders cant see. In high school, I was dealing with accepting my sexuality, which is something I later accepted freshman year of college. My self-esteem has grown tremendously and I feel 10X better about being openly gay.

ATA1:

Assignment one for me was very informative about the heuristics within social cognition and expanded my knowledge. Learning about the different individual heuristics took some careful reading and understanding, which opened my mind to the few characteristics and heuristics that I have and how exactly I use them. For example representativeness heuristic is one that stood out to me, because this heuristic involves making judgments on the basis of a relatively simple rule. So when I read this particular heuristic I immediately imagined moments where I have assumed something or someone based on prior knowledge and have misjudged.
