Reality sometimes hits a little harder when you realize you contradict yourself. Within the different items to archive, number seven stood out the most to me. I say this as the questionnaire asked multiple questions that I agreed with, but later had my eyebrows raised for. For example, question 3 stated, “homelessness is a serious social problem that needs attention.” That is something I agree with because homelessness doesn’t get enough acknowledgment. However, the statement followed up with, “within the past year, I have personally done something to address the problem of homelessness.” This is something I have not done, so it’s very dissonant of me to state that and not follow through with the actions I expect from others. Such as the image that shows a group of people preferring comforting lies, rather than the unpleasant truth.

While it may seem as though “similarity leads to attraction,” there is also wisdom in the old saying, “opposites attract.” I recruited a few individuals to help complete the similarity leads to attraction version and a few different people to complete the opposites attract version. After collecting and analyzing data from both versions, there is clear evidence there’s a difference between the two. Those who answered to similarity leading to attraction felt “it was easier to get along with each other and share a lot of ambitions and goals in common.” Whereas the few different people who completed the opposite attract version, thought people who are opposite better one another in different areas and balance each other out.
