Although I am not in a heterosexual relationship, I do understand and have witnessed the ways men and women have upset one another. I think for women the biggest way men can upset them is by being insensitive. Women tend to be more affectionate, caring, and loving about almost everything! So, for men to be insensitive towards topics, such as a female’s physical appearance, is upsetting for women. However, on the other hand, men tend to be more chill and relaxed about a lot of things. Whenever a woman comes and disturbs a man’s peace by “nagging” is upsetting for most men. Men love to be unbothered when they are in their mood or “man-cave” mode. Again from what I’ve seen and witnessed this is absolutely the most upsetting thing for each sex.

The relationship between self-regulation and emotional intelligence is dynamic. Five important elements make up self-regulation which includes: self-control, trustworthiness, conscientiousness, adaptability, and innovation. Being able to manage your emotions and anger and remain calm even when upset takes great self-control. As far as emotional intelligence, it is a stepping stone, learning to regulate and manage yourself, your emotions, and your inner resources. For example, when I am angry or upset with someone I immediately attempt to distance myself from the situation before it gets carried away and escalade. I am unproblematic and avoid drama and confrontation at all costs. I like to think about my future and where that situation can lead me in the future.

Prior to the TedTalk video watched, I have truly never realized or paid enough attention to the dehumanization ads cause to women. The amount of excessive photoshop just to be seen as “perfect” or as the “ideal” woman is absurd. This video contributed to a new understanding that nobody is perfect and no one should try to fit themselves into that category. The more a person feels obligated to fit the role of someone without flaws, will make them slowly but surely feel less than on the inside. Such as the photoshop 5 images attached showing something other than the authentic image. The first is the Ralph Lauren photoshop image where the editor made the model body size below average to fix the criteria. The next image is the foundation advertisement that made the skin completion a tone lighter to match the liquid. Along with that is the wrinkle ad that has a side-by-side image of a woman who looks 20 years younger with “wrinkle cream” but is really photoshopped. Also is the ad of the man with his head on another man’s body with intense muscles.

As I researched several credible sources, the greatest one that stood out to me was Google Scholar. Google Scholar has been a reliable and trustworthy search engine for several years now and is something I use for all of my college essays. “Google Scholar is interdisciplinary, meaning you are searching a huge range of topics all at once.” Scholarly articles are the most credible sources you can find because of the rigorous peer-review process.

As for a noncreditable source, social media is definitely top tier. The information posted onto social sites such as (Facebook, Reddit, Instagram, etc.) can be false information made out of thin air. the uneven quality of information, bias, manipulation, and insufficient control of false information are the main reasons against trusting information on social media.

An attractive source that took some time to discover and figure out, however, the perfect source is a Nike advertisement. Nike uses athletes within their advertisements that are well fit and in shape to persuade individuals to purchase their product. As stated in the photo “Get fit with us,” they’re trying to get people to work out and use their merchandise while doing it to make money.

The connection between music and relationships can be both meaningful and powerful, depending on the relationship and individual. Personally, the connection between music and my current relationship is very meaningful with particular songs. For instance, “Butterflies by Queen Naija” is a romantic song I love singing to my husband. I feel the chemistry and lyrics in the song bring a connection that no other song can. Whenever I’m around my partner I get “butterflies” because of the romance and connection we have. He is an important person in my life and this song reminds me of him and the moment I first met him when I hear it.

I believe I am the type of student that is ambitious, hardworking, and devoted. There are a lot of times when I have moments of weakness and want to give in, but something in my body rejects it. I strongly dislike laziness and procrastination, it’s one of the many ways to fail in life and I want much more. Tackling assignments as soon as possible and studying course materials as the weeks go by, expands my knowledge. Now, this is not to say I am a one-hundred percent scholar however, I do manage to make sure I am above average. As I took the General Self-Efficacy assignment, it made me realize much more about myself. The highest score to achieve on this assignment was a 4 or 40, depending on the scale type. I received was a 32, which indicates a higher perceived general self-efficacy.

There are many things that build a person’s characteristics and identity, and those traits begin from an individual’s childhood. Beginning with attitudes that are formed from direct experiences or the persuasion of others or the media. If a person had a happy childhood and a positive outlook on life growing up, they’re more likely to have a positive attitude. However, if a child had a troubled childhood or a traumatizing childhood, they’re more likely to be aggressive and carry a negative attitude. Other things that also affect a person’s character consist of knowledgeable information taught. Such as a person being taught discrimination and prejudiced against another race at an early age. That individual will likely grow up being racist or prejudiced against other people which can affect that person’s life and or career. Personally, this course will help me learn much more about society and myself which I am grateful for. I expect this course to teach me better communication, organization, and time management skills. One of the best strategies I plan to use to execute this course is a monthly calendar. Using my calendar will allow me to be organized and plan out timing accordingly.
