How should we approach the development of cyber-policy and -infrastructure has given the “short arm” of predictive knowledge?
Because of the new advancements that allow AI to adapt and evolve based on the command prompts inputted, we have to do the same with our policy relating to Cybersecurity. We have to be flexible and able to adapt and evolve along with the possible threats as a way to stay one step ahead of those possible dangers. Using safe practices like having staff consistently changes passwords on a seasonal basis to prevent unauthorized access, limiting who has access, maintaining secured and encrypted email traffic with limited sensitive information being shared, having consistent training and updated bulletins on new trends to watch for, and most importantly just making sure that you are able to adjust your strategies and have back-up plans for in the event of an attack.
However, predictive knowledge and the advancement of advanced learning AI being able to pick up and adapt to their environment based on simple prompts offers new challenges for the future. The creation of software that allows people to use a bot to write essays based on a one-sentence prompt just shows the potential for machine learning and the evolution of potential threats that we could see. Especially if this becomes used by the military as a way to subvert the masses by creating fake narratives and false news to incite potential violence.
