Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Compare our cybersecurity risks with other countries –  The risks for cybersecurity are going to vary by what systems the country has, so for example if a country has fewer technological advances and does not rely as heavily on technology for its infrastructure needs, then its risks will be much more reduced than ours because of our reliance on technology for our infrastructure in the US. With, it’s important for us to make sure that we are doing everything in our power to protect those systems so that we do not have any critical failures. A cyber-attack on a power plant could cause millions of dollars in damage and a possible loss of life due to the catastrophic nature of an attack on a system that we rely on heavily. During the height of the Pandemic, we saw attacks on hospital records systems which caused major issues with patient care because patients were getting the wrong treatments based on other records or vice versa. Attacks like these have the potential to not only cause major financial harm but can cause physical harm and the perpetrators behind them do not even have to be in the same country. All countries, share risks when it comes to cybersecurity, which is a worldwide problem with most countries using infrastructure that is powered and controlled by technology, it is important that we have a better understanding of what risks we could potentially face. Beyond just the dangers of infrastructure being attacked, we also must consider the chances of an attack on a critical military system including ones that control nuclear warheads. A nation’s military could decide the best way to cripple another country would be to use its own weaponry against them and that would be the most effective way to neutralize them other than using its own troops, assets, and resources.
