My major is cybersecurity, so it relates to the major in every aspect. Criminal justice, another class I am taking this semester, relates to cybersecurity in persecution in law if there is a law broken and the process an individual would have to go through, either internet crime or a physical crime that they committed. Accounting can also contribute to cybersecurity if you own your own company, and need to keep track of the money side of it. With any cyber security business, let alone any business there will always be a need for accounting. Business administration can also contribute to your studies of cybersecurity if you wanted to start your own third-party company, or understand how you can make more money within the industry. Another class I am taking this semester is World ethics and religions, this course can also contribute to cybersecurity by knowing more of what you’re dealing with/the people you will be dealing with, and their reasonings for doing what they do and their religious beliefs and background. Next semester I want to study Arabic, knowing a 3rd language, let alone the fact Arabic opens up so many doors and better opportunities for you in the future, or even the beginning of your career starting out. Let’s say if it comes down between yourself and another person wanting the same position as you in the field of cyber security, and you know Arabic and they do not. You will 9 times out of 10 be the one they choose for the job. Another perk to that is a major pay raise then the base salary, so let’s say it’s a $10,000-$15,000 bonus for learning Arabic, it would definitely be worth my time, and money taking this course through out my time here at Old Dominion University.
