The 7 principles of science relate to Cybersecurity in many ways. Relativism is the understanding that all things are related. Technology is used in almost every single aspect of life including economics, education, criminal justice system, political system, critical infrastructure, and the health care system. Cybersecurity is needed in all of these areas, and as technology changes in these areas, so do the measures for Cybersecurity. Objectivity is important when dealing with Cybersecurity, as topics being studied in the field should be done so in a value-free manner. Examples of this include how technology should be used to monitor sex offenders. Parsimony is a principle used to keep levels of explanation as simple as possible. For example, using self control theory as a way to explain why individuals participate in deviant activities such as cyber crime. Empiricism relates to Cybersecurity because knowledge within the discipline should comes from empirical research, or research and behavior that is factual or real to the senses. Opinions or hunches should not be used when trying to grasp an understanding of cybercrime and cybersecurity. Ethical Neutrality can play a huge role in technology and Cybersecurity, as there are so many unethical activities that can be done through a computer. Many ethical issues arise with advances in technology such as companies and websites collecting data for their own gain. Determinism relates to Cybersecurity when discussing cyber criminals. For example, does determinism relate to cyber crime and hacking? Are there preceding events that lead up to and individual committing a cybercrime?
