Developing cybersecurity programs in business is extremely beneficial for protecting and excelling a business. Benefits of developing cybersecurity include: protecting the business and its employees, increased productivity, and protection of the customers. Costs of implementing cybersecurity in a business include having an IT staff in-house or hiring a company to help prevent hacks by installing firmware and having a secure network for all employees whether in-house or working remotely.

Cybersecurity is a gamechanger for any business. It protects the network, the data of employees, and the company, and the business as a whole. It increases the productivity of employees because the network is faster and secure, letting the employees complete more work than without having cybersecurity. Downtime from having hacks occur greatly decreases productivity, and could potentially halt all work for a company should the network get compromised. Protection of customers’ information is vital for any company. Customers need to be confident that their information is safely stored in the network.

The cost of cybersecurity in businesses can be expensive, and most companies can’t afford to get all the components they need to have strong security. Businesses have to assess and pick and choose what is the best plan for their network. Not only is it expensive, but there is no 100% effective way to protect and secure the company from a cyberattack. There will always be skillful and motivated attackers to hack into a network, even if that business has top-notch security.

Cybersecurity programs in business definitely have their ups and downs. Overall, it is worth having cybersecurity to increase productivity and protect a business, employees, and customers. Businesses should always have a budget for Cybersecurity costs, so they can protect their data and that of their customers. It is wise to look into plans that can be extended and have other features added over time. While some view cybersecurity as expensive to the company’s bottom line, it is always a smart business practice to be proactive and try to prevent any attacks than to try and dig out of the financial and technical hole a potential hack can cause. While some ask why they should invest in cybersecurity, they should be asking can you afford NOT to invest in cybersecurity?
