Cyber technology has impacted interactions between victims and offenders vastly in negative ways. There are countless ways victims and offenders have clashed together, and today we will look at a few. Communication has never been faster, accessing information has never been simpler, and targeting victims has never been easier.

Thanks to cyber technology, you can communicate with anyone anywhere in the world at any time; however, this also has cons. Thus, making it extremely effortless to engage and target a victim.

Accessing one’s personal data is what offenders do the majority of the time when they have a target. Offenders may use open source information to learn the basics of their victim, then they use communication to pry more information. An example of this would be when offenders create fake websites to obtain personal and financial information from the victim. Many victims have had their information compromised whether through phishing, hacking, or an offender posing to be someone they are not.

Nowadays, people are getting on the internet at a young age where they tend to be more vulnerable to offenders. They are not informed of the different types of malicious code attackers use in obtaining facts. Just like with accessing information, offenders may pose as someone they are not or may remain anonymous to open the victim up and use that knowledge against them.

Overall, cyber technology has impacted interactions linking victims and offenders in a negative way. It is imperative that people need to be proactive and take precautions when using cyber technology so they do not become victims themselves. There are several ways to do this by being cautious with what websites you access, only communicate with people you know, and limit the information you put out in the cyber world.
