  • What classes are you doing well in, and why?

I’m doing well in Sociology and Chemistry mainly because they’re structured and I know what to expect from those classes

  • What classes did you identify as needing assistance in?

My Geospatial Technology class and my history class

  • What changes have you made (i.e. amount of time, location, campus resources, study strategies, etc…)?
    • I’ve started keeping better track of the assignments and the readings required for the class.I also started recording for my history class which helped a lot(thanks mom!)

Transition to College

  • What expectations did you have coming to college?
    • That it was going to be easy and just as smooth as highschool was.People would be a little nicer
  • Have those expectations come to fruition, or not?
    • No they haven’t
  • How?
    • Because it’s teaching me that not every single thing is going to come easy and fast and that things take time and patience.
  • In what way is your college experience different from what you expected?
    • I thought I would be a little more sociable, but I’m still coming out of my shell a little bit.I also

  • What has surprised you about your experiences so far this semester?

How different people can be which to me is beautiful in and of itself.I want to say that I was raised in an echo chamber, meaning that everyone around me was able to relate to eachother because we all had the same things. But coming to college my entire world opened up about people and how. Also how people are not raised the same and that shows a lot!!

  • If you live on campus: What has been your toughest challenge with moving away to college? Easiest challenge to overcome?
    • Mainly living with another person,I’m an only child so I’ve learned to enjoy my own presence and be in solitude and be perfectly fine with it but given that this is my first time living with someone my age who is extroverted, it’s been an adjustment!
  • OR  If you commute to class: What is the toughest challenge with commuting to campus? Easiest challenge to overcome?
  • Major
  • Name something you have learned about your intended major that you did not know at the beginning of the semester.
    • I did not know that the program for my major was located in a different area, but I’m glad I learned early on so that I can plan accordingly!
  • Have your feelings changed about your intended major? List some thoughts you are having.
    • Nothing has changed,I’m still very determined about my major.
  • Is there another subject (major or minor) that you are interested in learning more about?
    • I want to minor in Spanish, but It’s a lot of work and it’s very hard but I do want to try

  • Name one problem or challenge you have encountered this semester, and which resource(s) at ODU you have/can utilize to assist with this situation.
    • I needed help with a specific class pertaining to my grade
  • Is there a friend, roommate, professor, advisor, or group in the ODU community who has helped you so far this semester? If so, how did they help you?
    • An advisor gave me some advice and pointed me to the right direction on how to handle the situation
  • Have you attended an interest meeting for a club? Why did you decide to get involved or not get involved?
  • No,I missed a lot of the club fairs.
