My name is Carter Davis and I am from Richmond, Virginia.
Growing up, I played almost every sport you can name… except for basketball. Though I played a lot of sports, I was the most successful and consistent in swimming, baseball, football, and wrestling. I focused on these four sports with the changing of the seasons until I reached high school and put most of my time into wrestling, but also competed in football.
In high school, I saw great success in wrestling, earning several honors that helped me elevate my career to the Division-I level at American University. At American, I decided not to continue my wrestling career after an early battle with mononucleosis upon my arrival to DC. So, I focused on my education and got my degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Entrepreneurial Management. As my graduation from AU approached, I was able to secure a job in the mortgage loaning industry, and my future seemed set.
But the closer it got for me to start this job, the more I felt like I could not possibly go through with working in this industry. I knew I would only be satisfied working in sports, so I wanted to get my Master’s in Sport Management which led me to Old Dominion.
From here, I hope to gain as much knowledge, experience, and networking as possible to set myself up for a career in sports where I can bring dissimilar people together to support something and be a part of something bigger than myself.
