Editing the resource manual– Editing the resource manual for the organizations requires me to search for the resources that are listed in certain sections and to ensure that they are still up and running and most importantly still providing services for those with Alzheimer’s or Dementia. The resource manual is very extensive and the parts that I have been focusing on are Home Health Care and Non-Medical in Home Health.
Being the lead at community fairs and tabling events- Thus far I have been to two community events. One was at Norview High School where there were numerous other for profit and non-profit organizations also. My other event was at Old Dominion University alongside the other intern. At these events we promote the organization and give information on what the organization is all about. Specifically at the Old Dominion Event we talked about volunteer opportunities and how students can become involved.
Analyzing Community Forums- For these forums I am given information and notes that were asked, answered, and discussed during a forum. After looking over the note I break each questions down, answer them in paragraph form and then do bullets of the main points from each question. Once I finish these summaries I go over them with my preceptor and they are then uploaded into a file where the whole chapter is able to see them. This information is useful because it provides some background for the next time there was to be a forum in that area
Suffolk Project- For this project I was to find organizations/facilities that were located near Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk. The point of this was to find organizations such as rec centers, home health care, etc that would help promote the Alzheimer’s Association Community Forum that was going to be happening at that hospital near them. I had to locate, contact, and discuss this forum and see if they would be willing to help. If so, I got the information that was required from them and sent the flyer via mail, email, or fax so it was able to be put around their organization. I then put all of an organizations information into an excel spread sheet to keep track of who was contacted.
