I can tell that my computer is safe by checking for antiviruses and antimalware. Making sure my passwords are strong and I have sensitive files in folders that are locked up. If my router has a strong password, I’ll know that attackers will have a hard time trying to get in from the outside and if my password for my Windows account is also strong I know I’ll be able to have protection against brute force and dictionary attacks at least. Computers have made the world safer by adding a layer of protection for those who have sensitive things they would like to keep private and don’t have to worry about their friends or family giving out that information. They can use their computer as sort of a diary and can lock up the files and not have to worry about a family member getting into it like what could happy if they wrote in a diary. A way that computers have made the world less safe is the fact that there are many in the world that are computer illiterate and don’t know how to properly protect themselves from people who are very literate in the cyber world and can easily fool someone into giving them their credentials, which has caused a lot of identity theft and a lot of businesses to lose a lot of money. With computer technology constantly advancing, it can make it either harder or easier for people to get accustomed to protecting their computers and devices as well. On a brighter note, it helps a lot with communication. Making it easier for others to be able to hand out important files at the blink of an eye rather than risking losing an important file because it fell out of a folder or a backpack and the person having lost a lot of time due to the incident. When it’s all done digitally, things are saved easily and can be protected a lot more with encryption, whereas having something printed could have a lot of setbacks depending on weather and other events in the world.
