Week 1

  1. I say that I’m an entrepreneur because the field that I’m going in, which is Cybersecurity, will be dealing with problem solving regarding accounts being hacked and work on making plans to help solve the case if it were to happen again. My field will be specialized in finding out how a situation happened and working around within computers to get the system back up while setting up strong protections against said situation for it to not happen once more in the future. I don’t have plans in the future to introduce new products and services unless it’s a program that will be used to protect computers from outside attackers, and with that even I may not sell it for a lot of money for the sake of the people so that they can be easily protected.
  2. Success is a feeling that you get after you perform an action that causes a positive outcome. It’s when you make a long- or short-term plan for yourself and are able to achieve or overcome the hardships of it to complete the tasks necessary for it. Success is a type of event that happens after you’re able to get things done in a manner that best suits you. Success also is a way to boost your confidence when you have the feeling occur because it gives you a feeling of strength so that you can finish other tasks and have that feeling of success once again.
  3. I’m not a self-starter because my motivation for a lot of things tend to linger if I have other things going on in my life. A lot of the ideas I’ve given myself, I either start slowly on it and slowly forget about it in a few days or I lose the motivation for it because of how much other stuff I need to do like homework. Sometimes if I have something extremely important that I want to do so that I can be on par with others comes up, I try to work on it every moment I get though. A lot of my ideas have come and gone, but a few have stuck by for a while.
  4. ODU heavily supports entrepreneurship; they give a large set of courses to help guide you on the path to starting a business in a field that you enjoy working in. They greatly endorse it so that people can follow their dreams and have a great start to their businesses. The campus has its own building along with tons of activities to help those who wish to start get a stable and positive shift.
  5. My role in this ecosystem is to help others stay protected online. I’ll be part of the interdisciplinary portion within the ecosystem and identify problems and solve them in ways that can make sure they don’t occur again. I’ll be using my expertise in computers to solve problems relating to the cyber world and ensure people’s personal data stays safe. My field will require a lot of interdisciplinary action to be able to get through some of the hardships of cybersecurity and protect the people, so I’ll be doing what I can to get through them.

Week 2

  1. Design thinking is a way to tackle problems in the real world by finding alternatives to solving them. It’s based on thinking outside of the box to find a way to solve the problem by focusing on the user’s needs. It involves using direct observation and quality data to allow for diagnosing the problem in a mor defined manner. The way that it’s performed makes for a faster and cheaper way to find answers to problems.
  2. It has influenced me in a way when I’ve had problems with my Nintendo system. It wouldn’t read my cartridges and I had to figure out why. I went to a retro store and asked how much it would cost to be able to get the problem fixed and they had told me that it would cost a lot of money, so I went home and looked up ways to make the console read my cartridges and I found a cheap way. I ended up taking apart my console and wiping the cartridge reader down with a Qtip and rubbing alcohol, thus allowing for my cartridges to be read again.
  3. The connections between them seems to be related to the customers and resources. Opportunities relate to trends and want customers want while planning relates to who your customers are and what you need to do to find them. When it comes to opportunities, it’s best to look for trends that are relating to what you plan to be successful with and planning requires you to find the resources for it.
  4. I remember I missed a very important opportunity in high school when I took an 3D modeling class and made an animation regarding war driving with a friend of mine. We made the mistake of only saving it to one of our drives and it was mine, and a week before they did the drawing for the best animation my drive corrupted because I was very uninformed about needing to eject before pulling the drive out of the computer. We ended up not being able to use our animation for the program and we missed out on a good college scholarship.
  5. A successful venture can be unethical if something is done in a way that others can see it as immoral. You could do something that could help you out greatly but could have a very negative affect towards a certain group of people. The consequences could also lead to a very bad future depending on the audience you’re dealing with, which could make your venture and life go down in flames.

Week 3

  1. Ethics matter in entrepreneurship because it can have an impact on either you or whoever your audience is. If you were to make a decision that could benefit you in a way, there’s a chance that it can potentially hurt others with or without you knowing. Ethics is very important to how the world sees you and your company that you plan to be part of. If that were to happen to you or the person, it could be so drastic that it could be irreversible.
  2. Your own personal budget is very related to the entrepreneur budget. If you run low on entrepreneur money, it may bleed into your own budget and could put you at risk for bankruptcy. When it comes to money, budgeting between the two comes with a lot of risks. If one were to run out, the other might have money taken out. Your personal budget is also somewhat your entrepreneur budget too because the entrepreneur budget is pretty much everyone on the team’s portion of personal money.
  3. We need budgets because it helps give an idea of what we could work with. If we were able to have whatever we wanted with an unlimited budget, it would get old very quickly or possibly even cause things to crash harder than if you were to do things with a budget. If things were to fail on a budget, it wouldn’t hit you as hard as the unlimited budget. Giving yourself a budget makes it easier to take off the horrors of being under the impression of having anything you could get.
  4. Social entrepreneurship is developing solutions and funding them that are related to social issues. Those who work in this field work for the people and the issues that happen in the environment. The way that it works is to help out society rather than help out the entrepreneur.
  5. Licensing is one of the most common legal issues because it involves spending money that varies depending on your location. Trademarking is another legal issue because even though you think of something that would seem very original, there’s a good chance that it was already taken by someone else. Another legal issue that entrepreneurs face is having to make the choice of terminating someone because they’re either costing too much money to keep or they’re not fitting in. You can also run into issues with overtime, making sure that you keep yourself stable with finances and legality.

Week 4

  1. They get in trouble with the law because of the decisions they make. They could make a decision that could cause a problem with trademarking and copyright, which would then lead to lawsuits that wouldn’t end in their favor. Making products almost will always have problems regarding the law because of all of the trademarking and copyright stuff, making things a lot harder to create when trying to be an entrepreneur.
  2. Psychology is used in marketing in a very important way. It’s used in a way that’s supposed to get the attention of your audience so that you can sell your product. The way that you use your wording when trying to promote your product can either greatly help or greatly reduce the chances of getting your product to sell. If people are also unsure about your product, your words matter in a way that’ll change their mind.
  3. Telemarketing heavily sways my decisions for the sole reason of me not liking to be on the phone to talk, I’m much more of a texting person. Stealth marketing sways me from my decisions because it just feels like a hassle to see a product that’s real get advertised in a movie or show. Social media marketing also sways me because it feels like they just try to base it on my online searches and it feels like they’re breaking my privacy with it. Mobile marketing also keeps me away from it because it keeps sending me ads and constantly making my phone vibrate for things that don’t interest me, which really bothers me because I like to make sure my phone has something important that I’m trying to respond to.
  4. I can pitch my ideas better probably by making sure that I’m ready to speak before I give my pitch, so that I have a clear idea of what I’m saying instead of pausing and saying “um” a lot. I should also try to set up a paper so that I know what I’m talking about instead of trying to wing it on something I’m trying to pitch to a potential seller. I could also try to practice my speeches to my friends so that I won’t feel nervous when giving the pitch.
  5. My weaknesses for pitching somewhat outweigh my strengths because I’m not very strong at giving pitches or speeches in general. I get nervous and start to stutter, as well as say um and pause a lot. When I’m giving my pitch, I also tend to look at people more than keeping my attention ahead so that I can focus. I feel that a strength of mine probably is that I’m able to speak in a tone that allows people to hear me, even though I’m nervous I can still speak loud enough for them to hear me.

Week 5

  1. Some of the connections between disciplines and entrepreneurships relate to the people and
money. One of which is the economy, how money will flow between the people and your
company. Another would be sociology, meaning how the people will react to your product or
service to show how much of a name you give out. A large connection between the two is that
entrepreneurships can lead to other disciplines.
  2. Entrepreneurship is a science because it’s all about trial and error. It’s a science of
experimenting with the public on business models that could change how something is
perceived. When trying to go about entrepreneurship, it’s all about trying to figure out
psychology and sociology based on how people will view your product or service, thinking of
alternatives if things happen or how to handle a situation if it goes wrong.
  3. Failure is good because it gives you the idea that not everything is perfect. It’ll also tell you that
not everything works the first time around and that things won’t always hit off the first time.
Failure teaches that things can be done perfectly and still have flaws that you’ll never know
about, making it easier to overcome the next time you try it.
  4. I’ve learned that I can’t always do something the best and correctly on my first time doing it, I
especially learn that with videogames. It allows me to try harder and work again, going back in
with knowledge I didn’t have prior to the mistakes I made. I’ve learned that failure is the key to
learning because it gives you the opportunity to better yourself.
  5. Ethical issues that might arise are usually related to how things that could affect people in the
future. With cybersecurity, you could run into having to make the decision that could help the
company but could hurt the people who are customers to the business. Another issue that could
arise is something that could deal with privacy, making it so that people are risking their private
information getting out. Resource allocation is also an issue, dealing with assets being managed
    poorly.
