Entrepreneurship Professional Studies is a class that’s been an interesting experience because it made me think about what it’s like to put myself into the mind of an entrepreneur. The course goes about what you should think about when looking into making a business or working for one. It requires you to think about the hardships that you could run into when creating the business that you need to look into with disciplinary knowledge to be able to get out of a mess if one ever occurs. The class as a whole made me experience that the business cycle can be challenging and I would have to put a lot of thought into trying to make a business of my own if I ever thought to. The assignment that stood out to me the most was the journal about ethics and budgeting. It got me thinking about how I would do in the business world, especially with how I know I can be with my decisions at times, not knowing how things would turn out and how much it’d affect me if I were to perform it. The budgeting also got me thinking that I need to start setting up budgets and what I’d be able to work with if I were to start a business. I wrote about how an entrepreneur budget works just like a personal budget, since it would bleed into personal funds if things were to go south. I also wrote about what legal issues are the most common when working towards entrepreneurship.
The skills that I learned from this assignment would definitely be organization, communication, and problem solving. The organization skills will be used for budgeting and making sure that my money is adequate for entrepreneurship and personal things. Keeping my money organized would definitely help with ensuring how I use my money for services. Communication skills come in handy when working with what choices are ethical and what aren’t because it shows me that if I make the wrong decision it can possibly end badly for either me or my customers, which could kill my business. When it comes to problem solving, I will take the tools that I learned from it to get myself out of trouble if I were to fall under with money, which I would then have an easier time dealing with since I would have ideas at the ready. If I were to also run into legal troubles, I could use my communication skills to work my way around the troubles as well as use my problem solving skills to be able to get out of bad situations if I were to lose in any legal battles.
