I think that the letter relates to the rational choice theory because when reading the article, it says that there’s a potential that the user’s account may be affected by the data breach. It also relates to the conflict theory because it says that the attacker has access to name, address, phone number, and card numbers and expiration dates due to being hit with malware in the system.

When relating to economic theories, I think that the letter relates to the tragedy of the commons because with the attacker gaining access to bank information and the letter telling the user to contact and change cards, there’s a potential that the user’s money may be drained entirely. I also believe that it relates to the moral hazards theory because it says that the company used a third-party company for protection that had a malware placed within their systems by intruders instead of having their own team to protect their systems.
