I believe that the media influences our understanding about cybersecurity in a way that makes people believe that everyone can get extremely difficult tasks done in an instant, which is very much false. Unless the media does extensive research to show what it’s like to do professional hacking, it’s going to look too good to be true. A lot of companies like to make hacking look like super exquisite and extravagant things happen on a screen to show that the hacker as a lot going on at their disposal when in reality it takes a lot of time and planning to do what the media shows as well as over exaggerating what’s being shown on the screen because in real life, it’s just a screen with code going across it. I think the media overexaggerates hacking in most cases unless they actually do their research on it, making it look more believable than showing a week’s worth of work done in 5 minutes.
