Cyber technology is a relatively new thing. Considering the world has been around for billions of years and technology has only been around for a couple millions years, technology is fairly new. And of those millions of years, cybersecurity has only been around since the 1970’s, which is less than 100 years old. Because cybersecurity is still fresh, no one has a foolproof way to implement it. We are all still learning about it, even the professionals. In any company that has computers, there is a threat of workplace deviance. There is already a threat of a cyber attack because hackers are always looking for a new victim, but now companies have to worry about their own employees sabotaging them. The hiring process at major companies with high defense against cyber crime are very rigorous. They have deep background checks and other tests to determine if you’ll be a good fit. They also look to see if you could possibly infiltrate the company. Even with all of these preventive measures, people still get through the screening process and are put behind a computer. There is not much a company can do to protect its’ assets if they have spies within their company. There are thousands of ways to hide your identity online so even if they knew it was someone within the company, they wouldn’t necessarily know exactly who. The infiltrators can hide their proxy and IP address. An advanced hacker could even make it look like someone else hacked them and they would never know who it was unless they hired an equally skilled hacker to unravel it. Employees can also give login information out to anyone. If an employee was being mistreated, they may decide to give out passwords to doors or accounts to get back at the company. They could give a hacker an account which would give them access to the building or the system. There are many ways for workplace deviance to occur now that could really disrupt a company because of cyber technology. Companies need to be weary of who they hire these days. A good way to prevent an old employee from giving out information would be to immediately change passwords and logins as soon as they are fired so they are not able to get back in.
