Are we Safe with Computers?

Computers and technology have come a very long way in the time they have been around. They can do amazing things that no one ever thought would be possible. I am sure there is even more evolving they have to do in the future. But are they safe? Computers have given us access to the entire world from our home. We are able to contact people across the globe. Computers have some extreme firewalls and protections so they must be safe, right? Not necessarily. Without computers, we would be free from ties to the world. Computers are able to track our location even if location services are turned off. You can track IP addresses and even see exactly where someone is at any given time. This could be dangerous if you have people that want to harm you. Even if you aren’t using your computer, it has your location. If you carry your phone, someone could find where you are every minute of the day. Another way computers are not safe is bank accounts. Many people link their bank accounts to their computer for easy access. This is not safe because there are so many hackers out there that could steal your information and get into your account fairly easily. However, computers can be a safe tool to use in some situations. For example if you are in danger you can send your location to someone for help. They can send help much quicker than if you didn’t have that technology. Your privacy is also lost with computers. Any pictures or contacts on your computer are vulnerable to being stolen and used against you. This could be dangerous if you have friends and family that you don’t want anyone to attack. This is especially dangerous for people in the public eye. Computers can never be fully safe because there are always people with evil intentions and good skills.
