Cybercrime is talked about as being relatively new and fresh. This is because technology has not been around as long as people. Crime has been a thing since people have been around. This is because people have free will and some people have negative intentions. Cybercrime is very similar to regular crime, but it is conducted on a cyber forum. This could be through wifi, the internet, a VPN, or some other type of wireless connection. It is typically a hacker attacking systems. The criminal justice system is not the best in general, and in the context of cybercrime, it is pretty bad. This is because of the lack of knowledge the criminal justice system has on cybercrime. In general, cybercrime is not a main focus in criminal justice teachings because it is still new. Most coursework does not contain any information on cybercrime. However, there are some programs that have implemented cybercrime in their criminal justice programs. This is extremely beneficial to the students in those courses because cybercrime is becoming increasingly important. The technology involved in cybercrime is steadily growing in intelligence. It is happening so rapidly that the criminal justice system is barely able to keep up with the new discoveries. The little work the criminal justice system is doing to fight cybercrime is shrinking even more because of how fast cybercrime is developing. There is an overlap with criminal justice and cybercrime but it is not a big one. If criminal justice programs and the criminal justice system put more effort and time into fighting cybercrime, they would be able to keep up with the changing patterns. Many criminal justice programs are starting to learn about cybercrime to be able to insert it into their coursework and then into the criminal justice system as a whole.
