Cyber technology is a new tool that has been used for the last 40 years. Since it was created in the 70’s, it has quickly evolved into a very intelligent program as a whole. People can do amazing things with cyber technology that was never thought possible. However, like everything else in the world, when good people can use it, so can bad people. Cyber criminals are quickly learning the ropes of cyber technology and staying up to date with the changes so that they can use it against people. This is dangerous for everyone involved. This means that victims may not even know they are being attacked in the beginning. Cyber technology allows offenders to track victims, to hack into their account, to transfer funds, to stalk them and to harass them without necessarily being anywhere near them. This means that someone from another country can find a victim’s exact location and possibly send someone there. The interactions between offenders and victims can take on many roles. Cyber technology allows offenders to hide their identity or make them seem as though they are someone else. This means the victim may think they are speaking with a loved one or a friend. They may divulge personal information to this person that, in reality, they do not know. Cyber technology also makes the interactions between offenders and victims seem easier. There is a common saying that you can hide behind the screen. This means people are sometimes bolder and more willing to do something they wouldn’t normally do because the other person cannot actually see them. This causes a lot of problems because it could end in someone getting hurt. In most cases, interactions between offenders and victims are fully online but still very dangerous and scary for the victim. The cyber world is very unsettling because of the unknown.
