Strengths:

My biggest strength in French is my ability to read and write the language and to interpret what I’m reading properly. I was slow to start out in my first semester, but I’ve done well with adapting to all the different sounds for combinations of letters and the accent marks.

Weaknesses:

My biggest weakness is my French vocabulary, and how much I simply know of the language. The amount of words I know in French compared to English is very limited at this point. Now this does not impact me in most situations if I have the time to think of the proper word I need, but in situations where I need a word quickly, like on a test, I often have trouble coming up with or remembering the correct term. This is where the TalkAbroads come in handy as my partner can correct me or give me the proper word.

Areas for Improvement:

I’d like to improve my study habits. If one of my biggest weaknesses is vocabulary, then I should be studying more vocabulary. ImmerseMe can help with this, but it’s not consistent, I’d like to try DuoMobile, so I’m going to set it up for next semester.

Successes:

I’ve passed 2 French semesters so far with a B grade which is far better than I expected and I’m going to do my best to hang on for the next 2 French semesters I need to graduate. When I signed up for French 101, I expected the course to be in a more traditional format, meaning more in person, but I quickly realized that this course requires a lot of online work, both in and outside of school, and I’m proud of myself for adapting to this.

Overall Understanding:

I’m in a great spot in terms of understanding. I’m always up-to-date on what the class is discussing, and if I don’t understand something, I take the initiative to ask questions and participate more.
