What intrigues me about cybersecurity is the non stop learning of how to better your privacy. It’s like always thinking about the what if’s. Where I am from in certain situations my mind naturally goes to “well what if this happen or if I did it this way, would this happen … ” etc, and the ever lasting chase of self improving to better your understanding on trying to do things a better way, to me is what cybersecurity is all about. Everyday there is something new that’s happening in technology, things we deem impossible can very much be possible knowing how much all of our information is readily available on the web. I knew when I was able to meet with my doctor via zoom an she shared my medical files with me through an app, that I might need to take this cybersecurity stuff very much more serious then I have been. Saying all this to say what interest me most about cybersecurity is the forever chase to improving your network and also knowing that I am of service to the world and/or my company but also to myself and protecting what’s valuable to me.
The four majors I choose that relate to cybersecurity are Technology Education, Computer Science, Network Engineering and Computer Engineering. These relate I believe because this is how a person can be interduce to the world of cybersecurity or potential teammates and or co workers for a company. Technology Education just reminds me of my first IT class I toke in high school, which brought my attention to computers. As always when you talk about IT or anything dealing with working in technology must people’s first image or thought that comes to mind is coding or some type of hacker, so that’s how Computer Science plays a role to me and also knowing scripts an how to use certain programs and command prompts. When I refer to teammates and or coworkers I think of Network Engineering and Computer Engineering. These two majors could be apart of your team and a process to handling a Network Security problem or a software issue. Overall, I believe a lot of majors could relate due to how much technology is apart our day to day life.
