There are many common illegal actions that people do on the internet knowingly and unknowingly. A lot of the time people may not know that a certain action is illegal, and if they do know, then they might not think it’s very serious. I believe that the five most serious violations on this list are collecting information about children, using unofficial streaming services, using other people’s internet networks, using copyrighted images, and sharing passwords, addresses, or photos of others. Of these violations, collecting children’s information is probably the most serious. Children are the most vulnerable people everywhere, and there are many people that would take advantage of them on the internet. It is good that there are laws in place to protect them. Using unofficial streaming services and copyrighted images are tied for the second most serious, seeing as they are the ones that a person could be sued for and face legal consequences if caught. Stealing is stealing in the physical world and in cyberspace, and there will be repercussions. The next most serious would be sharing passwords, addresses, or photos of others. This violation may not always have legal repercussions, but if you were to share this information with someone who turned out not to be a trustworthy individual, then you could face a multitude of consequences from having your personal information leaked. Last but not least, using other people’s internet services is an incredibly serious violation because it technically isn’t illegal. Using someone’s wifi without their permission is still stealing and could potentially be very dangerous.
