Reflection/Goals

I really enjoyed this course. I found it very fun and informative. It has given me many new technical skills, such as navigating a file system as well as making and managing accounts, files, and directories. It also gave me experience in making and running scripts and automations. At some points I did find the work very challenging, specifically with the password cracking; however, overcoming these challenges made me grow as a computer user. I feel that taking this course has given me a better understanding of Linux and an excellent foundation to work with any operating system. Overall, this course has taught me many things, expanded my technical skills, and made me more comfortable using the command terminal. I appreciate how much this course has helped me learn and my wonderful professor, Dr. Al Kinoon. Thank you. 🙂

As for my professional goals, I wish to become a cybersecurity analyst. I am interested in working for the government one day; however, I am not opposed to working for private companies. Within the coming months I intend to start working towards getting certifications such as the CompTIA Security+ and the CISSP certification. Soon I will start applying to internships to gain practical experience for cybersecurity in the workplace. Upon graduation I plan to initially get a job as a cybersecurity analyst, but in the future I’d like to move up towards a senior SOC analyst or perhaps even a security engineer.
