Learning about the four major classes of biological macromolecules was the topic which related a lot to my field of interest. I’m interested in learning about topics in Food Science; and the information I learned in Biochemistry had a good connection. Carbohydrates are one of the major classes, and we learned how the energy we receive from food is converted into another form of energy we can use as fuel. Also, we learn about sugars such as: glucose, fructose, & galactose. These monosaccharides can be chained together, and produce even larger molecules. All of these play a role on how the body operates. Overall, the information I learned in this class provides me with a foundation for future food science related topics. As science & technology continues to grow, I’m excited for new discoveries that may be found in biochemistry & food science.
