Reflection On The Course

Learning more information on how the mitochondria is made been a very eye opening experience. As for years throughout school we have been taught it just made ATP without really understanding that process of how it does this. Even on social media many medical students highlighted the importance of learning how ATP is made as opposed to just knowing that the mitochondria just does it. As the ATP production helps within the understanding of muscle fatigue and certain mitochondrial diseases like ischemia. This course has made the process of learning how ATP is made much less daunting as I thought it would’ve been this lengthy set of cycles and rules; however, it was much simpler than that especially when it came to the citric acid cycle. Since, learning the citric acid cycle it felt more like knowing the steps it takes to harvest energy rather than an overwhelming maze of chemical reactions.
