Since the third or fourth grade, I’ve been studying cell parts and their functions just for basic science classes. We learn that the nucleus is the brain, mitochondria is the powerhouse, and that cytoplasm is the jelly that holds it all in place. I never imagined how extensive the life of a cell actually was. As someone studying marine biology, this class gave me more insight into breaking the parts and processes down of an animal or plant. I can use the knowledge I gained from the paper we wrote on cell death and complex life to aid in learning about the differences between algaes and why they might be present in certain areas. In all, this class helped me to manage my time better and become a better biology student.
