Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
Exploring Culture
We explored university life, cultural holidays and various customs of Latin America, including the siesta, Cinco de Mayo and others, as well as exploring the language and how it all fits together. in fact most of our time was spent on the latter rather than the former.
before taking this class, i thought of Latin America as just a place. in taking this class i realized that Spanish speaking countries are so much more than just places. they’re a whole solar system of experience, discovery and self improvement all on their own. i tend to think of things in concrete terms, tangible people places and thing. but Latin America is so much more. its a whole solar system of discovery, from the various cultures and customs to even the language itself.
Engaging in Communities
reaching out to ones community helps to form bonds with others, and helps to improve oneself. one never knows when such a bond will come in handy
Reflect on your experience and participation in these communities. Include artifacts such as photos, audio/video clips, etc.
Interpersonal Communication
I haven’t completed TalkAbroad yet, but i have done several discussion boards as well as other activities within Contrasena. I have also had at least one interview with Profesor Guadano to see what i have learned this semester. i have watched educational videos and completed educational exercises as well.examples).
Then, in a short paragraph or two, write a reflection that includes each type of the interpersonal (spontaneous, unplanned) communication activities: telecollaborative (TalkAbroad) conversations, discussion board posts, and any other interpersonal exchange. Explain how you’ve grown with each assignment/activity. i haven’t interacted with others beyond the discussion boards. the Contrasena was difficult though. but i kept going and eventually i got it. i excelled at certain exercises within Contrasena. i learned i am good at some things and not at others.
Presentational Speaking
In English, give a brief 2-3-line description of any presentational speaking activities you completed this semester inside or outside of class for or related to your Spanish learning. Include a recording of one of these speaking activities. (See Modes of Communication link for description and examples).
in one presentation, presented below, i had to learn to pronounce certain Spanish words.
Presentational Writing
i haven’t done any presentations this semester beyond a few interviews with Profesor Guadano. however i have done a few discussion boards, one of which is pictured below. it became easier to pronounce certain words, but remembering conjugations was difficult, but i kept at it and eventually i got it

Interpretive Listening
All I really did was Contrasena. that involved listening to different clips of people speaking spanish.
I mostly had to decipher various Contrasena clips. of particular note was one involving conjugating ser- and -estar, that was kind of hard
Interpretive Reading
as I have indicated we mostly did contrasena and discussion boards. I am unsure how to cite a discussion board. however i did do a presentation describing a building at my university, detailed below.
conjugating ser- and estar was challenging but through trial and error i overcame it. i found the different cultures of latin america compelling. the cornucopia of different customs, languages and other cultural aspects was breathtaking
