Hi, my name is Colby Freeman, I’ve worked with computer all the way since I was a kid. I always found a passion for coding and learning how computers worked. My career really started to show when I was in 9th grade and decided to hack the school’s Wi-Fi system and gain access and gave it to all 14 hundreds of my “best buds”. Due to be military my school system wasn’t that great, and teachers were just trying to get students not to fight in class.
The school did not have the best security and polices in place, and being a curse student with way too much in my hands, I set out for it to become a challenge for me. This ends up me get 10 days out of school suspension, and almost a legal battle. If anything, this taught me the ethics and law behind cybersecurity at a very young age, that hacking and exploiting a known vulnerability in a public school system is classified as a felony because it is part of the government. They incident as taught me a very valuable lesson, and I will forever to this day take it with me. It was the main push for me to go from wanting to learn Computer Science to Cybersecurity.
Since then, I’ve enrolled into a better school with classes of my interest and was able to gain 5 certifications. My Tech+, Security+, ITS certifications, and Cisco Certified Support Technician Networking certification. All which I’m very proud of.
