Here is what I think are the five most serious violations: the first is bullying and trolling. There’s a fine line between expressing one’s opinions and slandering. The latter should be a punishable offense if the aim is to intentionally harm someone. The second is sharing passwords, addresses, and photos of others. I think leaking passwords and addresses is more serious than photos. They are private information, and exposing them can lead to safety breaches. The third is collecting information about children. Children under 13 may not be old enough to realize what they’re doing online, so the Children’s Online Protection Act was created to protect them. The fourth is recording a VolP call without consent. Recording calls or filming people is an invasion of privacy. If another person was not the aim of the recording (i.e. they coincidentally appeared in the background), then that’s a different issue. The fifth is illegal searches on the internet. It’s reasonable to be suspicious if certain terms were searched on Google.
