Linux System for Cybersecurity
This course’s title is Linux Systems for Cybersecurity and assists students in the use of Linux systems and teaches us how it can be applied to cybersecurity. This course showed us how to use the Linux operating system effectively and the uses it could have in the real world. We learned how to create users, download software, and more. One project that still sticks with me is the assignment where we gave some of our test users passwords and used basic password crackers to obtain the passwords. This was done primarily to show how easy it is to steal a very insecure password, which is one of the biggest issues in the modern day because passwords protect everything.
This class taught me many skills that will help me in my future career because many forms of Linux are used in all aspects of business. I learned how to use Linux, manage files, create users and groups, create automation, and network. These skills were taught through all of the hands-on in-class demonstrations and assignments designed to make sure we understood the concepts.
