E-portfolio Project

               My time at ODU has been a very impactful on not just my knowledge but also has been a place where I have grown as a person. The program as a whole showed me that there are many sides to cybersecurity and that all of it is just as important as the others. With all of the diverse courses offered it gives its students the opportunity to explore all of those aspects of cybersecurity. The structure of the program allows students to tailor their experience to fit whatever path they want to take or allow them to explore to find that path. The courses that I have taken have helped me develop both my technical skills and increase my knowledge about cybersecurity and its aspects. They have given me hands-on experience working with computers and networks and also showed me how to look at problems from different angles.

Program Reflection

               The cybersecurity program that ODU offered me has help me to grow more knowledgeable and curious about the cybersecurity field. It has allowed me to explore many aspects of cybersecurity and Information security. Some of the experiences that were most valuable to me were the hands-on projects that the courses allowed me to experience, for example the final project of IT 416 showed me how much work goes into creating a functioning network and what it might take to maintain it. All of the projects helped me in some way to help me develop skills and knowledge. The courses were well structured in relation to each other because it felt to me like they all seem to make connections or build of each other, which created a better understanding of the topics being discussed.

IDS 493 Reflection

               This e-portfolio course teaches students how to make a professional e-portfolio through the readings and peer discussions. This results in an understanding of how to make an effective e-portfolio. The most valuable concept that I’ve learned is to consider how to make a website available to everyone, this is about making sure that pictures have alt-text and making sure the colors work together and don’t ruin the reading experience. The thing in this e-portfolio I am most proud of is the organization on the pages, I think that it looks clean. This course challenged me most in my creativity, because there needs to be a vision or a message to guide how you create an e-portfolio or any website. With more time I would try my best to improve the flow between pages. While taking this course I also took a website design course which added to the knowledge of what makes a website appealing.

Conclusion

               The experience of going to college at ODU has helped me grow in many ways and all of them has shaped me for who I am today. Interdisciplinary thinking has been taught to me through my courses and allowed me to use these courses as lenses to look at problems that I have encountered and will encounter in the future. This interdisciplinary thinking will be very useful in my future because it will give me the ability to better understand how to look at both people and problems in different viewpoints to better understand them. Finaly, my plans after ODU are continuing to learn more in the field of cybersecurity and start my career.
