An internet blog has described 11 illegal things you could do on the internet. While there are obviously more things you could illegally do, these are among the worst. However, I have my own top 5 ranking from least serious to the most serious. First on the list is Faking your Identity, whether it is through lying about your age to get into 18 and up websites, or just using an alias of someone else, it is a crime that far too many people do. Following that is Bullying and Trolling, which is simply getting online for the purpose of making someone else’s online experience worse, which could possibly lead them down a much darker path considering how far you go. Next is using someone else’s internet, as they pay for it out of their pocket and you are mooching off of them without their knowledge. Also, connecting to random Wi-Fi networks can put you in danger too if you’re not careful. Then, is the collection of information about minors, where any survey that collects info of internet users under the age of 13 is against the law. This could be the most serious depending on the purpose of the data collection. Lastly, is sharing passwords, addresses, or photos of others, which is known as doxing, and putting someone’s sensitive information into the public area could do serious damage to their life.
