Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
Exploring Culture
I learned many new things this semester involving and exploring the Hispanic culture. One activity is from Forum 1 where we talked about markets in Latin America. It was interesting to learn about what they sell in the typical markets and famous markets in Latin America. It was insightful to learn how the majority of people in those countries get their everyday items; whereas in America, we have commercial chain stores to get our necessities.
Forum-1Engaging in Communities
Engaging in your local and global community is vital in learning from others and gaining new perspectives. In my local community, I engage in conversation with employees from Mexican restaurants around my town. It is beneficial for me to practice my conversation skills and I have made a few friends along the way. Globally engaging helps me acquire knowledge on other cultures and traditions in different countries. For example, in forum 5, I researched the populations, capitals, and currency of four Spanish-speaking countries. I gained a global perspective of those countries’ facts.
Forum-5-by-Chandler-AndersonInterpersonal Communication
The forums this semester have helped me the most with interpersonal communication. It helped me reach my audience and communicate the topic effectively. Later on in the course, I would look back on my forums as a way of studying the material. Forum 6 was useful when learning about chapter 8 foods. It made it easy to compare the foods between the cultures.
Forum-6Presentational Speaking
The first TalkAbroad that I completed was about clothes and shopping. It was extremely difficult and nerve-racking as I was nervous to talk to someone fluent in Spanish and whom I have never met. I wanted to get it over with and talked faster than I should have, and I did not ask her questions as a good interviewer should. I learned from my mistakes and fixed them on my second TalkAbroad.

Presentational Writing
I submitted a lot of writing in 102. My favorite one was a composition of my daily routine in an odd setting. I chose to do my daily routine on Saturn. This fun assignment not only helped me better understand planning an entire routine, but it also helped me with being creative in the process. I enjoyed my time writing this paper, and it is in a random place that took a lot of pressure off of me.
Final-Comp.-2Interpretive Listening
Interpretive listening activities I have completed throughout the semester have been beneficial in comprehending Spanish. One of these activities has been the TalkAbroads specifically the second one. It helped me really think about what the interview was communicating to me and it taught me to think before I speak and to speak with a purpose.

Interpretive Reading
In Vista Higher Learning, I read about the fruits and vegetables of America and how they relate to fruits and vegetables in Latin America. The article helped me better comprehend chapter 8, which was food. I struggled some with the pronunciation of several words, but reading the article was a good way to remember words and associated them with the ones in English.
