Artifact 3
I decided to go with module 14 top artifacts. I chose this one because it seemed more fun to do and would also help in allowing me to know where I am on a scale of happiness. While completing this assignment, I answered a few questions by using a scale to see where I feel on the happiness chart. After completing it, I had to take my average score and see what it meant. To my findings, the score told me that I have the same average as someone that is my age.
My findings tell me that I am both a happy person and a sad person. This makes sense to me because as a college student I am always stressed out about what’s currently going on and try to do fun things to help me get out of the funk. Moving on, I chose this representative visual because, for me, nothing makes me happier than seeing my dog and being able to cuddle with her. The simplest things in my opinion make me happier than going out and having a good time with my friends
Artifact 2
The artifact that I picked was from Module 8. This module asks you to give two adjectives for specific racial and ethnic groups (eg, Americans, Chinese, etc.). This assignment was fun and interesting to do because I was able to assign different adjectives that I thought fit the groups and made the most sense to me. The interesting parts of this was seeing how people’s perspective of these groups have changed over the years. I also really enjoyed learning about how the stereotypes around these groups have evolved and how people have different perspectives based on their experiences with these groups.
I chose to go with this assignment because it seemed like an interesting thing to learn about. Before working on this, I looked over the questions it was asking and made notes about what my thoughts were on the answers. I never considered someone’s interaction with these groups as a source on how someone would describe them only using adjectives. I also wanted to see how my perspective on these groups was different from those that completed this in the early 1900s. This assignment helped me to understand why people describe certain ethnic and racial groups in the way that they do. In the end, this assignment made me not question, but ask myself, “why do we as a society do this?”.
Artifact 1
I decided to pick artifact 5 because it was the one that I could answer the fastest because of me already knowing the answers. Artifact 5 asked about, “Self- and Other-Enhancement in Everyday Life.” This to me was a no-brainer because I always think about these things before going to meet someone new, going to a job interview, or even just talking to people that are older than me. To me, presentation is everything when it comes to making a fantastic first impression from dressing nice to having a speech prepared to present to your boss.
While looking over the worksheet, I noticed that every situation on it was for something serious like an interview or a meeting with your future in-laws. These are all things that I think people should prepare ahead of time. All of the answers that I gave regarding these situations were to dress nice and professional, be respectful, and always be honest with what you’re saying. This assignment helped me to identify what enhancements I should use for specific situations. Therefore, when it comes to a meeting with your boss you should act professional and know what you’re talking about, and for meeting your classmates you should be respectful and let them know your strengths and weaknesses for certain things.
