Reflecting on some of my life values I find hard work and determination to be very important to me. Growing up my parents worked for everything we’ve had. They taught me many life lessons like when I bought my first car. My parents didn’t just hand me keys to a car on my sixteenth birthday like many of my friends’ parents did. I had to work for it and continue to work after to pay for gas as they wouldn’t. This life lesson taught me that nothing comes easy or simply handed to you in the real world. I’d like to believe that this is very relevant in my career pursuits because when I started my job I was an entry level employee, now I’m a lead with my own team and office due to hard work. I can also be very determined when it comes to things I want and tend to let nothing else get in the way.
When I graduated high school I decided to continue onto a higher education. I did this to hopefully put myself in a better starting position than my parents had. I will be the first person in my family to graduate from college so I have watched my parents and other family members struggle to climb where people with degrees start. I want to be successful and I’m determined to be so, that’s why I further my education. To give myself the best opportunity for a successful outcome on life.
This is an image from my freshman year at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Freshman year I played volleyball for Miami and gained amazing friends, opportunities to participate in student athlete study groups, and many other specialized programs to further my education.
