This website provides an overview of Medicine during the Civil War.  You’ll find information about the American Red Cross, Anesthesia during the Civil War, African Americans in medicine, and Civil War burials. The American Red Cross subtopic discusses the beginnings of the Red Cross, who founded it and how, and also how it was beneficial to the Civil War  Anesthesia during the Civil War addresses the most commonly used anesthetic, administration of the anesthetics, and the discovery of Nitrous Oxide.  Subtopic 3 covers African Americans in Medicine. Finally, Sub-topic 4 will provide an overview of Burial of the Civil War Dead.
