• Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist

Assess the care and education required to meet the individual needs of the patient with diabetes.

Provide patient, family and staff education to meet the individual needs of the patient with diabetes.

Plan and coordinate care and education for patients with diabetes across a continuum in collaboration with other disciplines, community agencies, and Sentara Healthcare subsidiaries.

Serve as an expert clinical resource for staff and healthcare provider in the inpatient setting.

Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate staff diabetes education programs.
