You have to document it, report it, and communicate it to people at every level of an organization, from technical teammates to executives who need the bottom line without the jargon. Beyond that, understanding the policies and strategies that shape how security is practiced at a national and global level makes you a more informed and effective professional. This course addressed both of those things at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CYSE 425W is a writing-intensive course that explores the political, ethical, and global dimensions of cybersecurity strategy and policy. Throughout the course, I analyzed major frameworks and strategies, learning to compare policies, evaluate their real-world implications, and make informed recommendations. A significant portion of the work involved selecting a strategy or policy from a provided list and applying it to a given prompt, which pushed me to research deeply and write with purpose rather than just summarizing what already existed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What I Took Away<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This course made me a sharper writer and a more well-rounded cybersecurity professional. It also shifted how I think about security at scale. Before this course, I tended to view large-scale cyber incidents in a purely technical sense. Working through these policies made me think more carefully about the people affected by them, not just the numbers.
