Bio

Hello readers! My name is Christa Kerns and I am currently finishing my Master’s in Sport Management. I’m enrolled in my final course now, which is sport communication. I have grown up playing sports most of my life, including gymnastics, volleyball, swimming and basketball. I stuck mostly with volleyball throughout high school and into college, as that is my true passion. I still play now when I can and love being on the court. I am currently a middle school PE & Health teacher and coach 7th grade volleyball. Sports are a huge part of my life all the way around. I am not only teaching sports, but a huge professional sports fan in my personal life. I’m big into football (RAVEN NATION!), also enjoy hockey, baseball and basketball. With my degree in sport management, I am not sure exactly where it will take me right now, but I would love to get somehow involved with a professional organization. More the behind the scenes, analytics or community outreach areas. Wherever I end up, I am super excited for the endless possibilities within the sports field and am ready for whatever opportunities come my way!

This blog was created for my sport communication class, to get started with an ePortfolio that could possibly go with me past graduation. This is the beginning of building a foundation to showcase what I can do within sports and communications. This will allow me to keep track of things I’d like to use for or with potential future employers, and also a way for me to have all of my thoughts in one place. I am excited to have a starting point and continue to grow my platform.

It’s been great introducing myself, and I look forward to future conversations!
