Artifact 5:
This entire course allows you to make connections between your culture and another. Module 4 allowed me to look at the values that the United States has verse Mexico. This image is a visual representation of our scores. I didn’t know how similar we were. It’s nice to know that not much is different especially because Mexico is a place I would like to visit.
Artifact 4:
Independence or interdependence? Are you someone that is socially engaged or socially disengaged? Module 7 of Items to archive answered just that. I listed five of my happiest moments. They were graduating high school, my first time traveling out of state alone with friends, working at an elementary school as an intern, my first job, and buying my first car. These examples showed that I am socially engaged and independent. The image I chose is a quote about independence. All of my happy moments show my independence. I didn’t have to do some things alone such as buy my car but it’s something that I felt I needed to do for myself.

Artifact 3:
People say you are who you are because of your parents. Usually the values that your parents have get passed down and you end up having the same ones. Let me say that is not always true. However it is true for me. In module 5 we focused on enculturation. When it comes to my views verse my mothers views I believe we had the same viewpoints because of the values and beliefs she has bestowed on me. She also made it clear that these values do not have to be the same as hers. The image is of my mother and father. It shows you the creators of me and where my values come from.
Artifact 2:
In this course, I had the opportunity to relate my present self to past experiences as a child. My significant experience may not be significant to others however to me it is. My illustration is the Playstation logo. When I was young and even till this day I play video games. It taught me a valuable lesson that I didn’t even realize. It taught me how to work with others, problem-solving, building relationships with others, how to be compassionate, competitive, and know that I’m not always going to be the best at everything. It made me realize that games are in every culture. Also, that part of who I am is because of something so simple.

Artifact 1:
The first item to archive had to be my favorite. The simplest object can represent someone’s culture and you may not even understand why. For me, I never knew how much an item like a grill could represent my culture. A grill brings everyone in my culture together. Any event, holiday, or just because of good weather we have cookouts. It represents family, music, and love.
