Ensuring availability of systems for a company is one of the most important factors of cybersecurity because it grants data access to authorized users when ultimately needed. Strengthening the process of availability protects classified information from being accessed by unauthorized individuals while also keeping data available at all times. If I was a CISO of a publicly traded company I would ensure the availability of systems by strengthening physical infrastructure, such as software systems, password authentication, and ensuring physical safety of data systems from physical catastrophe. Password authentication is important when it comes to system availability because it hinders unauthorized individuals from accessing critical information. Authenticated users would have granted access to the available information after completing a password and 2FA process. Physical safety of systems allows the data within the system to be unharmed by events such as water damage, destruction, and theft. Having systems in a safe environment prevents the availability of the data to be affected. Another procedure I would perform to keep systems consistently available would be to allow for corrupted data and information to be removed from the system so it does not affect the system also.
