Journal 6-Fake Websites Comparison

These three examples of websites are fictitious and are not genuine website that contain valid information, nor contain valid URLs.

This website consists of information that is incorrect, or contains disinformation. The website was designed as a tool to be able to spot misinformation and articles that are not true. The resources are not credible.


This is an example of two paypal URLs that are not correct. The web address in the first one is not how it is supposed to be, and the second one’s site name is not paypal at all, it is mybank.com. These are examples of phishing scams utilized by imposing fake websites. The official website for paypal is https://www.paypal.com/us/home which does not have any characters within the URL that are out of ordinary.


This is a screenshot taken from my own messages. I was able to tell that this was not a genuine website because one, I do not have an amazon account. Another reason is that the website is not even directed towards amazon.com, which is the official website for Amazon. This can be compared to https://www.amazon.com/ which is the official website for Amazon. The website is clear, and does not have any errors within the URL.
