Network engineers can help with making cyber networks more secure by working in a team with other people in their department to combat and work against hackers by building and improving upon computer systems that are already in place or using new technology that is more effective at detecting and preventing cyber attacks. In a race against hackers with new technology being created and then being broken into network engineers have to be innovative with what systems they choose to update or implement and how it could withstand a cyber attack from outside forces. Network engineers can then teach new employees how to use these new and improved systems in an attempt to help spread the knowledge to new people to help look for vulnerabilities that they may have missed as to make the new systems even more stronger. Then a network engineer would have to be able to maintain these systems and depending on how big the system is will become a lot of work and have a lot of components to watch out for any vulnerabilities in. The overlap between criminal justice and cybercrime comes from the idea that as technology increases more and more new ways of performing illegal activities will be created, for instance the hardest thing someone could do in the past was steal music from someone but over the years as progressed to disrupting businesses or stealing someone’s entire identity. As more and more crimes become touched by the internet it would become up to law enforcement to also keep up with the times by figuring out ways to deal with these cybercrimes and find the people responsible and treat them like a normal criminal who robbed a bank or did something even more malicious than disrupting systems and stealing someone else’s life from them.
