End-of-Class Reflection

Going into this class, I thought I was going to be re-introduced to the concept of the immune system on a basic level, however, that could not be further from the truth. While taking this class, I learned that the immune system is way more complex than I ever thought it would be. One important thing I learned from this class was how all of the molecules interact with one another to create various complex immune responses like the complement system or the inflammatory response. This lesson in immunology is relevant to my studies as a biomedical student because it helped me to understand the physiology of the immune system and how it works on a molecular level to even a cellular/systemic level. This new understanding has pushed my understanding of the human body as a whole and how important the role of the immune system is to our overall survival.
