No matter how great a student is, they will all have their bad days where they may tend to act out or not participate at all. To keep track of the students behavior and hold them accountable, I will use a behavior contract. “After completing this behavior contract with a teacher, students are bound to following it. This is a great way to help your students have some control and ownership in the makeup of their classroom environment.” (Teacher Vision, n.d.). This strategy will be useful in my classroom since my content area is history, so being able to incorporate anything with law and consequences will establish a content-based classroom environment. This will also be a great tool for secondary education because it holds students accountable for how they plan on changing their actions. It also shows the rewards and consequences which will help students abide by these contracts. An example of a contract I will use in my classroom is shown below.
