of a guideline rather than a set-in-stone way to organize a business, the realization comes on how these
entities must work together to see the success of the business through a harmonized, well-oiled
machine.

Technical support is the backbone of the entire IT effort, as users increasingly depend on technology
in their daily tasks. Technical problems can lead to huge downtime and have even larger
downstream effects, according to Seth Robinson with comptia.org. The legal department manages legal
and compliance issues, regulatory matters, provides legal advice, and can assist the company with other
important tasks such as money recovery operations or legal disputes (Linkedin). Supply chain
management can be quite involved as some products must go through multiple links on a chain before
they are turned from raw material to manufactured goods and then distributed through wholesalers
onto retailers and then end users. Research and development don’t apply to every business, but some
corporations depend heavily on R&D to evaluate the success of current products while planning future
changes. Operations is a term that encompasses several parts of the business and can relate to duties
within multiple departments, including the management of the employees of those sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Where does IT fit into this, and how should it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Information Technology can be useful in many business sectors, as evidenced by the statement
from Seth Robinson. Business practices have moved to digital infrastructure, and without IT available to
troubleshoot issues, the business could experience downtime, leading to a halt in operations.
Cybersecurity professionals, a branch of IT are necessary to implement practices which allow the
business to further grow rather than be hindered by unnecessary risks and the consequences of those
risks. Roles and responsibilities of IT professionals include maintaining good ethical practices, identifying
risks, analyzing technical problems, and identifying requirements to solve them, as well as designing and
implementing computer-based systems, processes, components, and programs (csuglobal.edu). The
resounding consensus over various internet articles revealed that a futuristic and solid IT approach
should be organized not to be static, but rather evolve amongst modern threats as they develop and
prepare for future threats that may arise. A good organization would also involve close communication so that teams understand how they will interact and collaberate to solve critical issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After reading this document, you should recognize how several business entities work together
to make up a functioning organization. Information Technology teams can play a vital role in almost
every area of a running business, from establishing the technology to troubleshooting issues down the
road and even recommending where a business needs to invest to maintain its desired security posture.
A dynamic and well-formed team of IT professionals would allow a business to grow rather than be
