What is the overlap between criminal justice and cybercrime? How does this overlap relate to the other disciplines discussed in this class? 

With new technology and people getting smarter, there has been advancement in the use of crime associated with technology. Technology is starting to become a place where multiple crimes are committed and there needs to be regulations in place for this. There is a big overlap between criminal justice and cybercrime. Criminal justice majors are able to take on cyber jobs because of the relation between the two. Cyber crime is a crime that happens on technology and that overlaps with criminal justice. Criminal justice deals with the whole justice system, the law, and enforcers of the law. Anybody who commits a crime can be overlapped with criminal justice. Cyber crimes are crimes such as unethical hacking, child pornography, identity theft, deploying computer viruses, and data breaches. All of these things go against the law and therefore can fall under criminal justice. Criminal justice helps cyber crime by organizing these crimes and the penalties that come with it. Criminal justice helps to recognize if cyber crime is deviant, harmful, and illegal. These help to breakdown the extensive list of crimes that come with involvement with computer. It is also determined in other categories such as a cyber crime being a white collar crime, international cyber crime, and cyber crime as a socially constructed crime. The organization of these different crimes is important for the law system to ensure justice is appropriately served. Digital forensics overlaps with these two as well because when there is an investigation going on the computer, it can be used as evidence and the hard drive with the data on it. Digital forensics deals with technology and crime so cyber crimes may be dealt with when working as a digital forensics .So, this overlaps criminal justice and cyber crime. All three of these disciplines are connected one way or another.
