My initial expectations for this class was similar to my actual experiences. I did make two friends and we worked together as a group the entire semester for more than just this class. This course was integrated between our psychology of adolescences class in which we discussed identity development (eP: 4) and cross-cultural psychology in which we had to discuss how culture influences Facebook usage and personality (journal 6). Group dynamics evolved in that we had to communicate more to have our research paper completed. This pretty much involved a lot of text messaging and phone calls since we all had different schedules. Constructing the research project helped up become more organized as a group and be able to delegate portions of our paper and making sure that it fit together cohesively. I think out of the four courses, my strongest writing piece would probably be for the cross-cultural course because it related more to me personally and to the concepts provided in the book. The aspect of this course that I believed was the strongest was the idea to put students in a group beforehand so that the online experience wasn’t limited to just speaking with the professor and no one else. I think the improvements that would benefit this course if provided in the future is more organization and a more clear understanding of what exactly will be the focus of this class. I felt this class was very heavy on social media in psychology and while the other courses were integrated in a great way to the provided assignments, I would have respectfully declined to sign up for this course had I known the main focus would be social media.
